20 marauders done

In some ways, it's been a terrible time in the hobby. BOYL has been cancelled in the first year I could make it, there's the unfortunate passing of John Blanche, and there's been a complete lack of any Old World updates. I also bought Resident Evil 2 and 3, which could prove disastrous for painting time.

On the other hand, I'm halfway through the marauders. I really got into a rhythm with painting them and managed to finish four a week, but now that 20 are done, it's time for a break.

I've now started on the three Dragon Ogres, but I'm not sure of the best way to paint them, and I'm worried my colour choices are too light. When I get some painting time again, I'll try doing a wash and drybrush on one of them. It's either that or shading and highlighting each muscle individually, which could be rather time-consuming. Whatever I end up going with, I'm confident that once the dragon skin is done, everything else should be relatively quick to finish.

With the next event now only three weeks away, I've accepted that there's no chance my army will be finished in time, but that's okay. I've only taken my dwarfs to one event, so this will be a good chance to try them out again. Last time, things didn't go well for them, but with some new tactics and a bit of practice, I'm hoping they'll do better this time. Luckily, work is quiet, so I've got time to write an award-winning list.

I'm still planning on going to Nottingham for the BOYL weekend. The hotel is already booked, and it will be nice to spend a day at Warhammer World without the long drive afterwards—unless we go on the Sunday, which we probably will.

Thanks for reading.
