3 weeks to the old world

Well bugger that's not much time at all. I did successfully paint up the 10 road wardens leaving me with only 3 characters to go. It should be manageable even with my terrible lack of concentration. No chance of me painting up a hellblaster volley gun though.

They turned out alright in the end with the highlight of the models being the green coats and the feathers being a definite let down. I did rush the feathers so I can't feel to bad about it but my general also has a rather elaborately feathered helmet which I'm not looking forward to. One mistake I did make was after spraying them silver I tried to paint directly over the top of it. Mostly this was fine but in some areas the paint really started to bead up and it took a couple of coats to get a decent layer down. The lack of adhesion also ment that it was easy to rub off while handling the mini. The red a yellow sleeves were quite bad but the boots and straps were the worst. I don't know how many times I went over the boots to hide the silver showing through. I have to remember to varnish over colour forge silver in future and hopefully save myself some time.

Not much action with the general yet although he should be quite quick. All that armour will be fine with a layer then dry brush, seemed to work out fine with the demigryphs. I sadly made the mistake of gluing him down before painting so some parts are going to be a nightmare to get to but I'm sure with a little time and patience it'll be alright. I'm planning on making the horse white I think that will stand out nicely although I'm already questioning the golden hammer, it doesn't seem very practical.

The warrior priest could go either way really. He looks quite simple at a glance but once you get in there he's got a lot going on. Both these minis will need some time for washes to dry so I should be able to switch between them to keep things moving. I might even start on the bsb if I find the time guess I'll know better next week how likely I am to finish on time.

I'd like to continue adding to the army after this. I already have a few extra units and some more on the way including the war wagon. Depending on how the event goes I might be inspired to keep painting or maybe once will be enough and I can stay in my isolated little bubble.

I put a lot of time and effort into painting, and it would be nice for it to serve a purpose beyond just being something I look at on a shelf. I’ve also enjoyed the rare times I get to engage with others in the hobby, so that’s definitely something I’d like to build on, if possible. Either way I'm really looking forward to painting something else, I'm not finished yet but once this is over I've already picked out a goblin to paint up. Something quick and easy is just what I'm after right now.

Thanks for reading.
