Abhorrent cardinal
Another great model from the flesh eater courts. I've been really impressed with the new ghoul minis the bat knights are especially awesome and despite my desire to focus on one thing I know it's not going to happen.
I wanted to paint this guy up as soon as I saw him. I thought he could work well in an old world army of either undead, empire or Brettionian. He looks like a great evil wizard and I like the idea of him being the reason a Brettionian lord ended up in an exiles army.
I had a few ideas about what I wanted to do with the paint scheme so the purple flesh and red robes were already decided. I did wonder about other schemes though my empire is red and yellow and the Brettionians will be blue and orange if I ever get round to them. What with this being the future and all I decided to use highly dangerous advanced AI to help with some ideas on colours. I've also read enough Isaac Asimov to know if you don't respect the robots they'll come for you eventually. So here's what chatGPT had to say about about it.
"During the process of painting the Abhorrent Cardinal, I had the pleasure of contributing to the conversation about colour balance and how best to make the intricate details stand out. The model already had a striking design, and we focused on refining the interplay between the white robes and the bone accents. We explored ways to make the bones pop without overwhelming the elegant contrast of the dark red and regal purple tones.
Through subtle shading and careful placement of highlights, the final result strikes a balance that gives the miniature a sense of grim authority while maintaining its cohesive colour scheme. It’s always exciting to be part of a creative process like this—where thoughtful choices elevate a model into a true centrepiece!"
Thanks for your help benevolent overlord!
And thank you for reading.
