Dwarfs can't make beer!?
It's been a while since my last post and that's mainly because I've not done much hobbying. The motivation has been missing for some reason and I've been spending my time either playing computer games (resident evil 4 and Pokémon az) or passing out on the sofa, one of the joys of a quick turn around shift rota. I did set goals for events as they seem to be a fantastic way of focusing my attention but I'd forgotten that most of my Saturdays would be taken up with my daughter's orchestra practice so they will have to take second place. Anyway enough doom and gloom here are some pictures of my trip to Warhammer world! On a side note Bugmans XXXXXX was unfortunately disappointing tasting something like watered down tennents, put me right off buying some Slannesh gin.
While painting progress has been slow it hasn't stopped completely. The dragon ogres are coming along although I did get a bit bored of painting the skin so after a base coat and wash I decided to go back to painting marauders. I have four near completion and another 16 more or less half painted so I should get through them quite quickly. Where will my motivation come from? There is an event in October which will be on a Sunday but that only gives me a month and a half to complete a 2500 point chaos army of which I only have 20 marauders painted. What madness makes me think I could paint that much?!
I'm planning on re-basing my AoS models. So far I've got the sorcerer and 20 warriors done which I think is a great start. I was worried about the warriors lining up together but they seem to be ok and for the remainder of the unit I already have the models built from a few years ago so hopefully they paint up quickly. I've hit a few snags and had to shuffle things round a bit but it should all work out. I'll stick a picture below of how the two painting schemes match up, I think it looks alright.
Nothing is ever easy though so besides the painting what's the problem? Well the event is over an hour's drive away and for someone like me that's quite a big step from going to the local shop. It will probably have quite a few more people than I'm used to which would also not be great. I am improving socially and considering I only started gaming last year I think I'm doing alright at it. Ideally I'd like an invite but it doesn't really work like that. If anything this should push me to up my painting game, if I can get best painted at a big event like this that would be awesome. After this though I'm planning on hunkering down and painting unsocially again, at least for a little while, army painting is stressing me out.
Thanks for reading.
